Kashmir Donation Drive

Project Sahyog was Conserve India’s flagship COVID-19 relief and recovery initiative, launched in response to the mass displacement, food insecurity, and livelihood loss experienced by migrant workers, artisans, and refugee communities during the pandemic. Implemented across urban and rural areas, the project combined immediate humanitarian aid—such as community kitchens, ration distribution, and mask production—with long-term support including livelihood restoration, artisan upskilling, and training on COVID-care. Through partnerships with organizations like UNHCR, Fair Trade Forum India, and Made51, Sahyog addressed both short-term survival and sustainable recovery, empowering over 5,000 families with resilience, dignity, and the tools to rebuild.

Relief, Resilience & Recovery: Kashmir Donation Drive 2025

In early 2025, escalating tensions along the India–Pakistan border in Jammu & Kashmir led to heavy shelling, causing widespread destruction and displacement across multiple villages. Families were forced to flee their homes overnight, leaving behind not only their belongings but also their livelihoods, livestock, and sense of stability. In the face of this humanitarian crisis, Conserve India mobilized an urgent response to provide essential relief and recovery support to the affected communities.

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our supporters, we successfully raised ₹2,20,345 to directly assist those impacted. Our relief effort focused on three key pillars—food security, education, and livelihood restoration.

  • 150 displaced families received monthly ration supplies through the allocation of ₹84,000 for immediate food assistance.
  • 95 students were supported with school books, notebooks, and stationery kits, ensuring their education continued despite the disruptions.
120 artisans, whose looms had been damaged or lost, were supported with the repair of existing looms and the installation of three new small-sized looms—reviving local craft livelihoods with dignity.

Why It Matters

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed deep systemic vulnerabilities across India’s informal workforce, especially among migrant workers, daily wage earners, artisans, and refugee communities. Lockdowns led to mass displacement, food insecurity, and widespread income loss—disproportionately affecting those already on the margins. Conserve India recognized the urgent need not only for immediate relief but also for sustainable recovery. Project Sahyog emerged as a holistic response—blending humanitarian aid with long-term livelihood restoration rooted in dignity, resilience, and inclusion.

In total, 365 families were directly supported through this initiative, offering them a renewed sense of hope and stability during a period of deep uncertainty. This would not have been possible without our dedicated volunteers and on-ground staff, who worked swiftly to assess needs, deliver aid, and coordinate with local communities.

This donation drive was not just about relief—it was a testament to resilience. With every book distributed, every loom repaired, and every food kit delivered, we stood together for the dignity and strength of those affected. Your support helped children dream again and artisans begin to rebuild their lives—one thread at a time.
