Community Donation Drive
Informal waste workers, often overlooked in urban planning and public health strategies, form the backbone of India’s recycling ecosystem. Predominantly women, they work under hazardous, unhygienic conditions with little access to basic healthcare—despite playing a vital role in managing the country’s mounting waste crisis. Poor vision, recurring infections, and inadequate menstrual hygiene are everyday challenges that affect their dignity, productivity, and quality of life.
Recognizing this critical gap, Conserve India, in collaboration with UFlex Ltd., launched the “Empowering Waste Pickers for Productivity through Health & Hygiene Intervention” program. The initiative provided essential health services—optical care and menstrual health support—to 1,500 waste pickers across Delhi-NCR, many of whom accessed medical assistance for the very first time.

Empowering Waste Pickers Through Health and Well-Being
Extending Warmth, Dignity, and Care During Winter
Every year, Conserve India organizes a Community Donation Drive to support vulnerable families living in informal settlements across Delhi NCR. These communities—often without access to adequate shelter, heating, or basic services—face increased health and safety risks during the colder months. Our donation drives are designed to meet immediate needs while reinforcing a deeper message of dignity, inclusion, and collective care.
In January 2025, the drive was carried out across Ghaziabad and Noida, reaching families with limited access to winter essentials. This year’s effort placed special focus on childcare and maternal wellbeing, recognizing that infants and young children are particularly vulnerable to cold-related illnesses. Donations included blankets, baby clothes, hygiene kits, bathing soaps, talcum powders, and small gifts for newborns—aimed at offering both physical warmth and emotional comfort.
Why It Matters
This initiative demonstrated the power of targeted, community-led healthcare interventions in improving both well-being and economic potential for informal workers. By bridging critical gaps in public health access, it empowered a vital—yet often invisible—workforce to lead healthier, more dignified lives.
Conserve India remains committed to advancing social inclusion, gender equity, and sustainable development by addressing the unique challenges of marginalized communities through scalable, impact-driven programs
More than just a distribution effort, the Winter Donation Drive is a reflection of Conserve India’s people-first approach—responding directly to the lived realities of underserved populations. It exemplifies our commitment to building resilient, compassionate, and inclusive communities through tangible, grassroots action.
