Circular Economy Innovations

Overview

Designing Scalable Solutions for a Regenerative Future

At Conserve India, innovation is central to our mission of advancing a circular economy that is inclusive, climate-resilient, and locally relevant. We develop, pilot, and scale technologies, materials, and models that transform linear systems into circular ones—enabling environmental regeneration, economic opportunity, and social equity. Our approach to innovation is not only about developing new solutions, but also about reimagining existing systems through interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and sustainable design.

We operate at the intersection of design, technology, livelihoods, and environmental justice—creating real-world applications that are resourceefficient, lowimpact, and replicable across diverse geographies and sectors.

Our Focus Areas

  • Scientific and Interdisciplinary Methods: We employ a range of research methodologies such as mixed-methods research, lifecycle assessments, policy analysis, and sectoral studies to generate high-quality, reliable insights.

  • Community-Engaged Research: Drawing on extensive field experience, we incorporate participatory and stakeholder-driven methodologies to ensure that our research is contextually relevant, socially legitimate, and inclusive. We engage directly with waste workers, artisans, youth, and women’s groups, integrating their lived experiences, challenges, and innovations into the research process to produce grounded and actionable insights..

  • Evidence-to-Action:Beyond research outputs, we deliver practical tools and advisory support—including policy briefs, implementation roadmaps, training curricula, and evaluation frameworks—that support adoption at scale.

  • Collaborative Networks:  Our work is rooted in collaboration with a diverse set of actors, including ministries, local governments, industry associations, multilaterals, think tanks, and grassroots networks.
  • Systems Thinking:  We adopt a systems-thinking lens to address interconnected challenges across materials management, livelihoods, infrastructure, and governance—ensuring long-term impact and circularity.

Our Approach

  • User-Centric Prototyping
Innovations are field-tested with real users—artisans, recyclers, entrepreneurs—ensuring solutions are functional, relevant, and scalable.
  • Collaborative R&D
We partner with academic institutions, technical experts, design thinkers, and grassroots innovators to co-develop and iterate on ideas.
  • Low-Carbon, High-Impact Design
Our innovations prioritize renewable energy, resource efficiency, and waste minimization, aligning with global sustainability and climate goals.
  • Pathways to Scale
We invest in open knowledge sharing, capacity building, and ecosystem partnerships that help move innovations from pilot to practice.

Why It Matters

In a time of growing urgency around climate change, sustainable development, and just transition, there is a critical need for research and policy design that is both evidence-driven and implementation-ready. Conserve India addresses this gap by offering clients comprehensive, interdisciplinary insights rooted in both scientific analysis and real-world application. Our work strengthens the foundation for informed decision-making, enabling effective planning, investment, and reform.

Our Projects

As part of its commitment to promoting circular economy solutions in India’s textile sector, Conserve India is developing solar-powered wool processing machines that address long-standing sustainability challenges in the wool value chain.

Circular innovations in plastic waste management are essential to transforming a linear, disposal-driven system into one that values resource efficiency and regeneration. By designing solutions that extend the life of plastic materials, we reduce environmental pollution and lower the demand for virgin plastic production.
